Fire Safety Reimagined: QuantumERA at the Fire Museum of Memphis
Escape rooms have never been more thrilling than in Memphis, Tennessee, home to the only fire-safety-themed escape room in the U.S. Developed in partnership between Quantumera and the Fire Museum of Memphis, this one-of-a-kind exhibit is both fun and educational, offering visitors a memorable, hands-on way to learn life-saving fire safety skills.
The Fire Museum of Memphis approached us to transform what was once a basic arcade space into a kid-friendly fire escape room, turning it into an engaging, educational experience for all ages. The escape room features nine touchscreens that promote teamwork through four engaging puzzles. Each puzzle focuses on key aspects of fire safety learned throughout the museum, reinforcing critical lessons through immersive challenges.
The first puzzle consists of a “heat check” test to avoid hazardous doors and navigate to the next puzzle. In the next stage, teamwork is essential as the players must work together to plan an escape route through a smoke-filled house and find a safe exit. In the third phase, players are presented with a number pad and must find the correct code hidden inside the room. Afterwards, a riddle is given where players must effectively reach a hidden button in the room. The button can only be found by deciphering the riddle, capitalizing on the safety tip to Get Low and Go. The experience concludes with a meeting in a safe space and an emergency call walkthrough, giving the chance to practice how to respond in a real-life crisis.
A central leaderboard outside the room displays team scores, adding a fun, competitive element to the experience. This layer of gamification not only boosts engagement but also promotes retention of key safety concepts, especially effective for younger audiences who learn best through play and challenge.
We were excited to work with the Fire Museum of Memphis to bring their vision to life, where education and entertainment come together in the most unexpected way. Plan your visit and experience it for yourself!
